responsible engineering
We are a collective of minds driven by a passion for our world.
The built environment is where we spend most of our lives and it has to perform well and be responsible towards the resources.
As building services/MEP/environmental engineers we design the systems that provide air, light and thermal comfort to internal spaces - and we inform the design of the buildings to minimise the energy needed for these systems to operate efficiently.
mstep has a mission to help create comfortable, healthy, efficient environments in which we can breathe, live, work and thrive - and that do not cost the Earth!
We decarbonise existing and future spaces through responsible engineering design from inception to completion.
mstep brings 25 years of delivering very low and zero carbon buildings and places of varying complexities across many sectors and countries.
Using our knowledge, our enthusiasm and the latest technologies, we deliver the future today.

MEng (Hons) mechanical engineer

profile
Abi studied Mechanical Engineering with a year in industry at the University of Portsmouth, graduating in 2019. Before joining mstepshe worked for two years in Bournemouth as a graduate mechanical engineer gaining experience in the building services industry.
She has worked on a range of projects in the commercial, healthcare and residential sectors ranging from feasibility to Stage 4 design. She ispassionate about low energy design solutions and sustainability.
Her experience includes coordination with the design team and contractors, producing calculations, detailed drawings, thermal and 3D modelling, and creating Decarbonisation Feasibility Studies and Energy Strategies.
Abi is passionate about promoting STEM in schools. She believes that showing young people the importance and application of these subjects will inspire a new way of thinking and learning which will help to shape future technical workers and industry leaders.
In her own words:
“Over the past few years I have been privileged to work in an industry where I can utilise both my skills and personal interests. I have always enjoyed math and science as well as being creative. Working on buildings and designing systems brings all of that together and seeing something you’ve designed come to fruition is always very rewarding.
I have always believed it is important to work in an environment where you can really voice your opinion and feel like a valued member of a team - I am grateful to have found that at mstep.
Outside of work I enjoy calligraphy, music and binge-watching TV shows. I have been
developing my calligraphy skills over the past 5 years and find it quite therapeutic. I also have an almost 2-year-old border collie named Lincoln - he is a terror, but great fun and I spend as much time with him as I can.”
