this private residence underwent a comprehensive renovation and restoration managed by cagni williams architects. the client aimed to merge their flat with the one below by adding an extension to create a four-bedroom dwelling and a separate self contained studio flat. 

​

mstep collaborated closely with the architects to design mep systems that seamlessly integrated with the structure while preserving the building's historical integrity. the client expressed a desire to replace gas heating with low-carbon alternatives. air-source heat pumps were implemented for both heating and cooling, utilising a low-profile underfloor heating system allowing for a uniform distribution of heat throughout the spaces.

 

mechanical ventilation units with heat recovery were installed to supply fresh air to the living spaces, ensuring that energy used for heating is not wasted. additional heating and cooling for the rooms were facilitated through the ventilation system, in conjunction with a post-heating and cooling unit.

the project was completed and occupants moved in in summer 2024.
