energy strategy
the client's aim for this bijoux office in the garden of millbrook cottage is to be free from fossil fuels, entirely self-sufficient and off-grid.
using local sources, a micro-hydroelectric system will be installed, supported by a PV installation, to generate enough electricity to meet the small power and lighting needs, as well as the heating demand.
a grey water reed filtration system will be installed to filter the wastewater from the wash-hand basin/sink and shower. a black water compost tank system will be installed to process and filter the waste from the toilet. rainwater will be collected via a rainfall pipe into a dedicated tank and pumped to serve the wash hand basin.
mstep has ensured that the client's low energy and sustainability objectives have been met.
