mstep carried out a site wide energy masterplan with targets of zero carbon and near-zero water use for the estate as it develops in stages over the coming years. 

​

several studies were carried out to compare the base load energy consumption of the site at present against potential interventions. The different options assessed include photovoltaic panels (PV), battery storage, air source heat pumps and ground source heat pumps. 

​

It is proposed to have a centralised energy centre combing the new low carbon technologies to help consolidate the energy generation and heating and cooling and reduce the number of different systems in the college.

the proposal allows for a phased approach to the installation of the new infrastructure and building upgrades.
