ridgway mews clinic is the new therapy centre for the not-for-profit private practice specialising in the provision of mental health and educational support services.
the project consisted changing the use of two existing separate buildings, a physiotherapy centre constructed in 1985 and unoccupied residential units constructed in 2002, upgrading them and connecting by a new building extension designed to meet the latest part l requirement.
the clients brief was to achieve a contemporary, high performance energy efficient building with the use of low carbon technologies and good thermal performance of the envelope. a ‘be lean, be clean, be green’ approach was used throughout the design process.
mstep provided the MEP design collaboration with host architecture and design, to ensure the client’s requirements were met.
new air-source heat pumps (ASHPS) have been installed to provide space heating and cooling and heating for hot water. fresh air is provided to the spaces using mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) to help reduce energy consumption. photovoltaic panels were also installed on the building roof and are used to offset a proportion of the building’s energy usage across the year.
the new family treatment center was completed and occupied in autumn 2024.
