At 100 yards long and 33 yards wide filled with 1,000,000 gallons of cold water, Tooting Bec Lido is the largest freshwater pool in England. The South London Swimming Club (SLSC) is keen to improve the long-term sustainability of the Lido by implementing the best-in-class environmental systems.   

Working closely with SLSC and the architects at WR-AP mstep is providing the MEP / energy strategy for Tooting Bec Lido. mstep has designed the lowest carbon option with the least intervention to meet the sustainability goals of the club. We are proposing to use the existing pool filtration system to harvest additional free heat and with the introduction of roof integrated PV solar cells, the associated battery storage will ensure solar power is available to the Lido facilities on overcast days as well.
